Yi-Wen Chen holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from National Taiwan Normal University. Her doctoral dissertation, Ariadne Transformed: The Strauss-Hofmannsthal Collaboration on the “Ariadne auf Naxos”-Workgroup, received the highest level of funding from the 2014 Sandwich Program jointly supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST; now the National Science and Technology Council, NSTC), enabling her to conduct eighteen months of research at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich), Germany.
In recent years, she has collaborated with organizations including the Taipei Symphony Orchestra (TSO), National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), and Taiwan Music Institute (TMI) of the National Center for Traditional Arts, giving pre-concert talks and contributing feature articles and program notes. She has also been invited to appear in radio interviews on music-related topics.
